Like a Holiday with Our Favourite People: Jo and Paul’s Magical Bachilton Barn Wedding
When Jo and Paul began planning their wedding, they knew they wanted something that truly reflected who they are as a couple. They were looking for a beautiful venue that felt intimate and welcoming, rather than a traditional, rigid event. Their goal was to create a celebration that felt less like a standard wedding and more like a fantastic holiday with all of their favourite people. By choosing Bachilton Barn, they brought that exact vision to life perfectly!
Relaxed Mornings and Hot Tub Views
Describing their day as happy, emotional, easygoing, fun, and unforgettable, Jo and Paul loved every single second of their celebration. For Jo, the morning set the perfect tone for the rest of the day. Getting ready with her bridal party felt just like a fun night out with best friends, filled with lots of laughing, chatting, and classic 00s girl music while Jade from JM Hair and makeup artists Jennifer Mclachlan and Natasha Dardas worked their magic.
Across the venue, Paul and his party were having an equally relaxed morning. They spent their time soaking in the hot tubs, taking in the gorgeous countryside scenery, and enjoying a quiet beer together before the main event.
The Moment It Totaly Hit Home
While the entire day felt incredibly personal, Jo remembers one funny and emotional moment just before walking down the aisle.
After months of planning, to-do lists, and occasional meltdowns, she found herself standing behind the closed barn doors after her bridesmaids had made their entrance. Kayleigh from the Bachilton team gave her a moment to herself, fluffed her dress, and told her to say whenever she was ready. Then, Éadaoin from That String Gal began playing the bridal entrance song, Glasgow Theme from Love Actually.
In that exact moment, it suddenly hit Jo that she was actually getting married! All the stress of planning instantly melted away, leaving nothing but pure excitement to go and marry her best friend.
The ceremony itself was a massive highlight for the couple. Delivered by Evelyn Robertson at Fuze Ceremonies, it told their love story perfectly, from the moment they first met right up to standing together at the altar.
A Surprise Standing Ovation
Following the beautiful ceremony, guests enjoyed a wonderful meal from Regis Banqueting, played outdoor games provided by Bailes of Fun, and admired the stunning stationery by Flutterbeeze and gorgeous decor by All Wrapped Up.
But the biggest surprise of the night was still to come! Jo and Paul surprised their guests with evening entertainment from Sticks & Kicks pipe band. As soon as they started playing, the entire room was on their feet dancing, singing, and clapping along. It created an absolutely electric atmosphere that set the perfect tone for the rest of the night, which kept rocking thanks to DJ Kyle from Gemini DJ.
The couple’s team of suppliers went completely above and beyond all day. From Jenni at Fraoch Floral Design carefully blotting the bouquets so they wouldn't stain the dresses, to the photography and video teams helping tidy the cottage before shooting, every single detail was handled with care.
The Bachilton team earned major praise too. At the end of the night, during a total downpour of rain, Ben from the Bachilton team insisted on driving Jo and Paul back to their cottage in his car so they wouldn't get soaked. It was a small gesture that perfectly summed up the incredible care they received all weekend!
Advice from the Bride and Groom
Reflecting on their incredible day, Jo and Paul have some wonderful advice for future couples:
"Your wedding day goes by so much faster than you ever imagine. My biggest piece of advice would be to make a conscious effort to pause and soak it all in. One of the best things Paul and I did was make use of the Lochy room throughout the day whenever we wanted a few quiet moments together. It gave us a chance to step away from the excitement, catch our breath, and simply enjoy being husband and wife for a few minutes."
Jo also adds that couples shouldn't stress over the tiny details that don't go exactly to plan on the day. Your guests won't even notice, and in the end, those minor things aren't what you will remember from your perfect day!
