From an accidental wedding guest meeting to a sentimental first dance surprise, Maddie and Harry’s big day was a perfect reflection of who they are. Currently soaking up the sun on their honeymoon in Crete, Maddie took some time to share the details of their day with us.
Love in the Air: How Maddie & Harry Met
It seems only fitting that Maddie and Harry’s love story started at a wedding.
"We met at Harry's cousin's wedding," Maddie remembers. "I was a night guest, and we clicked from the very moment we met."
Fast forward through their relationship, alongside a chaotic full house renovation, and the two were ready to plan a beautiful celebration of their own.
Choosing Bachilton Barn: A Beautiful Escape (Rain or Shine!)
When it came to choosing their dream Scottish wedding venue, Bachilton Barn stole their hearts immediately. Nestled in the rolling hills of Perthshire, our rustic brick barn offers gorgeous views outside, but it was the indoor spaces that really sealed the deal for the couple.
"It is such a beautiful place," says Maddie. "Even when the weather isn’t the best, you just don’t care because it is so stunning inside!"
One of the highlights for the couple was how effortlessly the entire day came together. When asked about their experience, Maddie noted: "Everything flowed so well! We’ve had so many friends and family compliment the venue and how well it was organised. I wouldn’t change a single thing!"
The Vibe: Keeping It Calming and Chilled
Planning a wedding can sometimes feel like a whirlwind, but Maddie and Harry had a very clear vision of what mattered most to them: the atmosphere.
The Goal: To maintain a completely calming environment.
The Result: Total success. "Me and Harry are such relaxed people, we wanted to make sure that we portrayed that on the day," Maddie explains. "Which I think we succeeded at. A lot of friends and family said how chilled it was, which was music to my ears."
A Heartwarming First Dance Surprise
Every wedding is full of memorable moments, but Maddie’s absolute favourite part of the day involved a beautiful, emotional tribute to her parents.
"My favourite part was our first dance song. It was very special as it was my mum and dad's first dance song at their wedding, and it was a complete surprise to them!"
There was not a dry eye in the barn as the music played, making for an unforgettable highlight of their evening reception.
Wedding Planning Advice from the Newlyweds
Having successfully made it down the aisle while balancing major life milestones, Maddie has some golden nuggets of wisdom for couples currently planning their big day:
Plan Far in Advance:"Plan ahead! Weddings can be so stressful, so planning way in the future allows you to have a week off here and there. That way you can rewind from it all."
Avoid Double-Booking Big Life Events:"Oh... and don’t do what we did and go through a full house renovation at the same time! Lol."
Life as Newlyweds
So, how is married life treating the new couple? "We’re currently soaking up all the rays in Crete and loving every second being with each other," Maddie says. "Life is amazing."
