Buried Sausages and Sun-Drenched Ceilidhs: Sara and Eoin’s Bachilton Barn Wedding

When Sara and Eoin set out to find their ideal venue, Sara had a clear vision in mind: the location had to feature rolling hills and a body of water. The moment they stepped onto the farm at Bachilton Barn, they knew they had found their place. With lush greenery, sweeping views, a tranquil pond, and warm, welcoming interactions from Ellie and the team, it offered the perfect canvas for their relaxed, emotional, and fun Perthshire wedding.

The Power of the Sausage and an Outdoor Dream

Sara’s ultimate dream was an outdoor ceremony. To guarantee good weather, she took matters into her own hands with a classic tradition: she buried a sausage on the farm premises the day before the wedding to ward off the rain! The luck held completely. While it rained the days before and after, Saturday greeted them with glorious, unbroken sunshine.

Surrounded by their favourite people, Sara and Eoin said their vows in an idyllic outdoor setting right in the middle of the pond area. Adding to the emotional intimacy, Eoin’s cousin, Jo, conducted the ceremony as their celebrant, making every word deeply personal.

Kilt Surprises and International Traditions

The day was packed with heartfelt surprises. Sara loves kilts, so her stepdad secretly arranged for himself and two other Romanian family members to wear full Scottish kilt outfits on the morning of the wedding!

The evening party brought a fantastic blend of cultures as Sara’s Romanian family hit the dance floor alongside the Scots. Guests danced to a mix of traditional Romanian folk music and a lively Scottish ceilidh, with DJ Nick Martin keeping the energy sky-high and stepping in to demonstrate the dance moves.

Guests were completely enchanted by the setting, spending time taking photos around the pond and enjoying the sunshine. Another major highlight was the dessert table. Sara’s mum baked a incredible dessert buffet of ten different homemade cakes, which caused a queue straight across the barn!

Crafted with Love

Sara took a hands-on approach to her day, designing the decor and arranging the flowers herself alongside her bridesmaids.

Live music by vocalist Natasha Maree set a gorgeous tone for the drinks reception, while Inside Out Catering delivered incredible food with exceptionally happy, smiling staff. Sara looked like a absolute princess thanks to makeup and hair stylist Natasha Dardas, whose glowing makeup stayed flawless right through hours of bouncing on the dance floor!

Reflecting on their journey, Sara shares brilliant wisdom for future couples planning a wedding at this rustic barn wedding venue:

"Instagram is great for ideas, but don't feel pressured to have everything that is on there. Make it personal and ask yourself: What is a priority for me and what is a luxury? Also, don't let your husband-to-be write his vows and speech in the final week when you need his help with other jobs!"

It was a truly unforgettable day that proved just how magical a personalized Perthshire wedding can be!
