Supplier Spotlight: Capturing the Magic at with We Are One Wedding Films
Headshot by Karolina Kotkiewicz
When the music fades, the confetti settles, and the last ceilidh dance finishes, your wedding day can feel like a wonderful, happy blur. Long after the cake is eaten, the real magic of your celebration lives on in the way you remember it - and the way it was captured!
When we started our Supplier Spotlight series, we knew we wanted to chat to Austin, the creative force behind We Are One Wedding Films, to talk about how he captures authentic Scottish love stories, making the most of our Scottish countryside, and why capturing moving memories matters so much.
From Home Movies to Behind the Lens
Austin’s path to becoming a wedding filmmaker started long before he ever picked up a professional camera. Driven by a lifelong habit of making home videos and documenting his children as they grew, he fell in love with the simple art of catching raw, unscripted moments.
In 2017, he took that passion professional; initially launching as r7cmedia before rebranding to We Are One Wedding Films in 2021. Today, Austin spends his weekends traveling across Scotland, turning live, unrepeatable wedding days into cinematic heirlooms.
Framing the Day at Bachilton Barn
Having filmed across our 700-acre estate, Austin has developed an eye for the little corners of Bachilton that truly shine on film.
"I love the area around the pergola and the water," Austin shares. "There are so many distinct little spots right in that one area to get completely different looks, which brings so much variety to your photos and video."
When asked what creative setup he’d steal if he were planning his own big day at the barn, his answer was instant: taking full advantage of our on-site accommodation.
"Have the bride walk down from the cottages with her bridesmaids," he suggests. "It’s such an epic, atmospheric moment to capture on camera as everyone makes their way toward the ceremony, and it looks incredible on film."
Real Talk on Planning Your Scottish Wedding
We asked Austin to share his top advice for couples currently in the thick of wedding planning. Beyond the aesthetics, Austin sees firsthand how couples navigate the whirlwind of wedding planning, and he's full of practical wisdom for keeping things in perspective. When it comes to allocating your budget, Austin advocates for focusing on legacy.
| "When the day is over, you only take three things with you: your memories, your photos, and your video"
Busting the "Videography Myth": Many couples wonder if a wedding film is truly necessary. Austin’s take? "Video is a must-have. Audio and movement take you right back to the feeling of the day in a way static photos simply can't."
A Trend He Wants to See More Of:"I’d love more couples to consider a 'First Look' before walking down the aisle. It helps relax you both, gives you a private moment together, and frees up time later in the day to enjoy drinks with your guests!"
The Golden Rule for Stress-Free Planning:"Try not to stress about things outside your control—especially on the day itself. A wedding is a live event! Unexpected things will happen, so just roll with it and enjoy every second."
